Summary:
Under
the direction of the General Manager, the Sales Manager coaches
and directs the sales staff in all aspects of the sale and delivery
of new and used trucks. This entails the marketing and pricing
of new units, plus the reconditioning and preparation of used
units for resale. Serves as an advocate for JX Enterprises, and
as a member of the management team, generates business and goodwill
for the sales, service and parts departments of the branch.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Coach and manage Sales Executives:
Attract, maintain, and develop sales
executives;
Teach and mentor sales executives
to perform customer visitations that promote the enhanced sale
of JX equipment and services;
Ensure sales executives are trained
to appropriately spec trucks that meet the customer's needs
and provide maximum benefit for the customer while gaining competitive
advantage for JX.
Develop the market within the dealership
area of responsibility:
Understand strengths, weaknesses,
threats, and opportunities of the competition;
Target customers for the branch
to conquest (short-term and long term);
Be involved in associations that
could further the involvement of the branch in specific niche
markets.
Direct and control administrative
functions:
Approve sales contracts and assist,
as needed, in the structuring of deals;
Control new and used truck inventory
and manage floor plan;
Set valuation of trades and consignments
as well as work with the Used Truck Director in finding used
trucks for purchase;
Oversee reconditioning and detailing
of units, ensuring they are front line ready within an average
of ten days or less;
Ensure stock equipment is spec'd
for the market;
Serve as an advocate for JXE by
resolving customer issues while representing JX values and interests;
Negotiate sales allowances with
Peterbilt;
Assure that departmental paperwork
is processed and submitted, as well as Profit Master updated,
in a timely and accurate manner; and
Maintain accountability for the
overall sales volume and bottom-line pre tax sales profit.
Qualifications:
Requires HS education or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing
and 2-3 years experience in heavy-duty trucks preferred.
Previous management experience desired.
Retail sales experience and mechanical knowledge of trucks helpful.
Excellent customer service, good communication and multi-tasking
skills essential.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
preferred.
Valid DL required; CDL preferred.
